We hope you and your loved ones had a wonderful start to the New Year! The WGB team wishes you a prosperous and fulfilling 2024!

UPDATES & CURRENT EVENTS

WGB kicked off the new year with our Annual Board Meeting. Board and Committee members, staff, and select volunteers gathered to recap our year of growth and giving, and to prepare our organization for the future, continually serving our community's evolving needs. Each staff department created an interactive table display presentation to summarize and share our successes in 2023.  See the full Impact Report.

During the meeting, we announced this year's elected Board Officials:

• President: Cyndi Shanahan

• Vice President: Ebony Landon

• Treasurer: Shona Bell, CPA

• Secretary: Lauren Vanni Kinard

All have been long engaged in and dedicated to Women Giving Back's work through volunteering and leadership, and we are so grateful for their continued service!

The Rosendin Foundation selected 73 organizations across the nation for their nonprofit grants, and we are honored to be one of them! WGB was awarded $25,000 to advance the emotional, nutritional, and occupational health programs and resources we offer (in conjunction with amazing local organizations) to the women and children we support and the referral partners we work with.  Learn about the recipients from all across the country here.

WGB also had the pleasure of accepting a $4,000 grant from the Loudoun Chamber Foundation, dedicated to investing in local nonprofits that are focused on the economy, workforce development, public safety, and wellness in Loudoun.  We were happy to see some familiar partner organizations among the other grantees!

We were blown away by the results of our Target Circle campaign— in 3 months you all cast over 243,000 votes, resulting in $3,800 being donated to WGB! Thank you so much to those who participated and spread the word on our behalf.

Every year we honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with a Day of Service on MLK Day.  Just as Dr. King paved the way for a better future for all through his ideologies and efforts, we look to positively impact the lives of those in need.

The MLK Diversity-Engagement Foundation held their 33rd annual March and Celebration in Leesburg, VA.  The event included a donation drive held at Frederick Douglass Elementary School, with clothing items benefitting WGB and canned goods benefitting our nonprofit partner Loudoun Hunger Relief.  Thank you to all who participated!
