Volunteer

Volunteers are the heart of Women Giving Back. With the help of thousands of volunteers and hundreds of corporate groups we are able to provide for the women and children we serve.

We welcome volunteers of all skill levels to contribute their time and talents, supporting local women as they gain the strength, stability, and confidence they need to rebuild their lives. Whether as an individual, corporate team, community, faith-based group or just a group of friends, there are many ways to volunteer.

Group & Corporate Volunteering

Group and Corporate Volunteering: Corporate Social Responsibility programs not only improve workplace culture in many ways but also show what your company stands for. Volunteering is known to help improve employee attraction, encourage teamwork, and provide a natural sense of accomplishment.

We welcome individuals, groups, families, schools/universities, businesses of any size, religious organizations, clubs, and more to join us at our facility and experience our work firsthand.

Donation Drive Guide

Host A Drive

Host a Drive: Organizing a drive for Women Giving Back is a great way for your social, civic, school, sports, church, or business group to serve a very worthy cause. Make us part of a giving-back day for your company. Energize your youth club or team to do a collection in their neighborhoods. Manage a community donation box with your faith-based group.

Hosting a drive has never been easier and we’re here to help! We will provide you with donation boxes, receipts, and customizable flyers for your drive. See our step-by-step guide below for details.

Snack Pack Guide

Kids Snack Pack Assembly

Kids Snack Pack Assembly: Women Giving Back helps supply kids with nutritional meals and snacks while their mothers shop because these children often miss their meals at the shelter in order to come to WGB’s facility.

Snack packs are filled with two days’ worth of meals, and are offered during the school year and school breaks. These are prepared by volunteer groups and off-site.

If you plan to prepare snack packs to bring in, please email [email protected] prior to starting. We kindly ask for a minimum of 100 snack bags to be donated.

Volunteer FAQ

Is there an age requirement to volunteer?

The minimum age to volunteer at WGB is 12 years old. Volunteers between the ages of 12-15 must have one adult chaperone for every five volunteers. Youth unaccompanied with a parent/guardian must provide a waiver slip signed by a parent/guardian prior to volunteering. Digital waivers are emailed to the parent/guardian on record when their child registers.

Can I walk in and participate in a volunteer shift?

All volunteers must pre-register for volunteer shift prior to their arrival.

Do you offer pre-court or court-mandating volunteers?

Individuals seeking court-ordered community service volunteering must read and complete WGB’s Court-Ordered Policies & Agreement and email the last page to [email protected] to set up an in-person interview. Court-mandated community service volunteering is limited. We are unable to accommodate any violent or drug-related charges (please see document for full list).

Are volunteers required to wear masks?

No, masks are no longer required to volunteer at WGB but you are welcome to wear one if you like.  Disposable gloves and hand sanitizer are also available to use.

Does my child have to create their own volunteer account?

Yes, all individual volunteers (12 yrs and older) are required to create their own volunteer account to use to sign up and check in and out for their shifts.

I have volunteered at WGB in the past, why do I need to attend an orientation?

If you have not volunteered at WGB within 1 year, you are considered to be an inactive volunteer. Things are always evolving and our facility is constantly being reconfigured to keep up with the needs. Orientations with the facility tour provide up to date guidelines to keep things running smoothly and most importantly to keep everyone who visits WGB safe.  We now also offer an online orientation.

I signed up to volunteer at a WGB shift through my groups website, do I have to sign up on the WGB volunteer portal as well?

Yes, with the exception of approved large corporate groups, all volunteers have to sign up to volunteer on WGB’s Volunteer Portal.
