Helping Women and Children in Crisis by Distributing Clothing and Other Essentials at No Cost

UPDATES & CURRENT EVENTS

Retraction: In the April 2026 Newsletter, it was incorrectly reported that Navy Federal Credit Union was the reigning champion at the April Showers for Diapers Challenge. Apple Federal Credit Union was the reigning champion, and they successfully defended their title this year.

Thank you so much to everyone who participated in our Cinco de Mayo Fiesta for a Cause! Whether you sponsored, donated an auction item, purchased a ticket, volunteered, or helped spread the word, every single person played a part in making this one of the most successful Fiesta for a Cause events in Women Giving Back history.

This year, together, we raised more than $109,000 through this incredible fundraiser. Our auction alone featured 125 donated items from local businesses and supporters and raised more than $16,000 to support WGB’s life-enriching programs.

It was such a fun evening from start to finish - delicious food, festive drinks, lively music, packed dance floors, and a Photo Booth that was rarely empty all night long. Behind the scenes, our volunteers worked tirelessly to keep everything running smoothly and make sure guests felt welcomed, celebrated, and cared for.

Events like this are such a powerful reminder of what our community can accomplish together, and we are so grateful to everyone who helped make the night such a success. We’re already looking forward to next year!

Run the Greenway

On May 3rd, Women Giving Back was proud to be a beneficiary of Run the Greenway! Speeding down the Dulles Greenway, the entire event was filled with energy, community spirit, and plenty of determination.

It was our first year participating, and the Women Giving Back Wonder Women showed up in a big way - rallying 51 participants and supporters to help carry us up the leaderboard while representing WGB out on the course.

Thank you to everyone who woke up early to run, cheer on participants, stop by our table, and soak in the excitement of race day. We loved seeing so many supporters sporting their new Women Giving Back ballcaps and spending the morning with us.

And a special congratulations to our own Jenlene Nowak, who placed third in her 10K age group, and Lulu Morris, who placed eighth in her 5K age group. We’re so proud of you both!

A huge thank you to our WGB ladies who showed up “pretty in pink” at the Bridge of Love Foundation’s Legendary Golf Experience, hosted by former NFL player Fred Smoot.

Our team had a wonderful time representing WGB while supporting an event dedicated to raising funds for local youth, veterans, and individuals impacted by cancer.

Between the beautiful course, great conversations, and opportunities to connect with community leaders and NFL legends, it was a memorable day all around.

We’re always grateful for

opportunities to partner with organizations making a positive impact in our community - and especially proud of those who show up so enthusiastically to represent Women Giving Back wherever they go.

Women Giving Back was honored to be one of 51 Loudoun nonprofits selected to receive grant funding from 100WomenStrong of Loudoun County this year.

We’re incredibly grateful for organizations like this one that continue investing in nonprofits working to support local families and strengthen our community. Events like this are also a wonderful reminder of how many of us are working together to make a meaningful impact across Loudoun County.

LOOKING AHEAD

On June 23rd, Women Giving Back is proud to partner with Equality Loudoun for our upcoming Shop with Pride event - a special shopping opportunity designed to support LGBTQ+ youth and young adults as they build wardrobes that help them feel confident, comfortable, and more fully themselves.

From 4-6 PM, attendees ages 24 and under will be invited to shop for gender-affirming clothing at no cost in a welcoming and supportive environment. No referral, appointment, or Loudoun County residency is required to attend.

We’re grateful for opportunities like this to help ensure every individual who walks through our doors feels seen, respected, and celebrated.

A Big Thank You to our amazing volunteer Risa, who has brought her creativity and background in instructional design to help us by creating signage throughout WGB!

She has designed and printed posters that assist volunteers in understanding the sorting process - creating signage for our hanger system, sorting bins, and backstock hanging racks. She incorporated our logo and colors into all the signs and has helped to make our warehouse look more professional, and, especially, helped volunteers to easily understand our processes.

She is also now setting her sights on the Boutique where we will be adding more directional and guidance signage for our clients!

In addition, she created a system with signage for our brand-new lockers, making it quick and easy to find your locker and for staff to open any lockers missing a key.

Accumulating over 315 hours since starting in April 2025, we are so grateful for the time, energy, and passion she has put into these projects. Thank you Risa!

Set it and Forget it! Make a Lasting Impact Each Month!

The need in our community is growing, and your steady support helps us meet it head-on.

By becoming a monthly donor, you’re joining a special group of changemakers who ensure women and children in crisis have access to clothing, resources, and hope - all year long.

It’s easy, automatic, and incredibly powerful. Just set it once, and know you’re making a difference every single month.  When giving monthly is simple and recurring, the support never stops, and the impact lasts a lifetime!

FHLB is Invested in Giving Back

The team from Federal Home Loan Banks truly helped keep things moving at WGB this month - and they did it all with incredible energy, teamwork, and heart.

This hardworking group made a major investment in our mission, tackling nearly half of our donation intake area by emptying five full donation bins (no small feat!). They also hung and organized three large bins of clothing for the Boutique, helping prepare hundreds of items for shoppers by sorting clothing by size, age group, and category - making it easier for families to find exactly what they need.

Despite the heat, the team also packed our van with CDP items for distribution to community partners and jumped in throughout the Boutique helping restock, tidy, and assist clients. From start to finish, they delivered a high-yield volunteer experience, and we’re so grateful for everything they accomplished during their visit.
