Last week, we welcomed 15 volunteers from CREW as they hosted a Resume Writing Workshop for our clients. The 12 attendees received resume reviews and support and then were given the opportunity to go shopping in our boutique for professional clothing to aid them on their career searches.

Our annual 9/11 Day of Service at George Mason University reminded us of the strength and resilience of our community. Students banded together to collect and sort clothing donations for the families we serve — a moving illustration of compassion, support, and service that our nation honors on this day of remembrance.

With the help of our trusty volunteers and community partner Inova Partnership for Healthier Communities, we welcomed hundreds of families to our reimagined Diaper Pantry, now operating out of its permanent home in the new Nonprofit Hub! We are excited to continue our expansion progress to meet the evolving needs of our community

We were thrilled to host an event this month to benefit Final Salute, an organization that supports women veterans and their children. Attendees were able to shop our boutique for their "next uniform," civilian clothing. A delicious lunch was generously provided by Patsy Norton of Great American Restaurants.

Give More, Save More: A Tax-Savvy Way to Support WGB

As a supporter of Women Giving Back, your generosity is life changing. One way to increase both your impact and tax benefits is through “bunching.” Instead of giving the same amount each year, you can combine several years of donations into one larger gift.

For example, a donor who typically gives $10,000 annually could contribute $40,000 in one year to a donor-advised fund (DAF), receive a larger tax deduction, and still direct $10,000 each year to WGB.

With tax law changes set to take effect in 2026 that may limit itemized deductions, bunching ensures your charitable giving continues to provide steady support to WGB programs while maximizing your tax benefits.

We wanted to highlight our incredible volunteers from The Tailored Closet and all that they have done recently to support WGB. In addition to providing clothing donations and 40 volunteers to help in our warehouse, they have also been busy hanging shelving in our boutique and new career closet.
