Helping Women and Children in Crisis by Distributing Clothing and Other Essentials at No Cost

Season's greetings from Women Giving Back! We are filled with gratitude looking back on the year of impact and growth we've had, and we couldn't have done it without you.  Our village of supporters has certainly made our holidays (and every day) merry and bright! Wishing you and your loved ones a heartwarming holiday season.  We can't wait to show you what's in store for 2025!

UPDATES & CURRENT EVENTS

WGB turned into a holiday wonderland for our annual Santa's Workshop. Your donations and helping hands brought the spirit of Christmas to nearly 700 kids this year!  It was an absolute joy seeing moms choose the perfect gifts for their kids, and we can only imagine their excitement when they open them up on Christmas morning!

Moms were also able to shop for free clothing, shoes, and accessories in our boutique, each accompanied by their own personal volunteer elf.  They ended their visits with picking out wrapping paper and getting a surprise gift of their own! Between the smiles, hugs, and happy tears, it was an uplifting day for sure!

A special shoutout to Dream Finders Homes for once again sponsoring our Santa's Bike Shop.  They outdid themselves this year by garnering enough support from their employees and trade partners to donate 500 bikes and scooters!

Our annual Kids Giving Back event was a festive evening embracing the giving spirit and holiday glee. From games and crafts to snack packing and toy donations to photos with Santa, a jolly time was had by all!

Thank you to The Providencia Group for facilitating an engaging workshop on Trauma Informed Approaches to Supporting Survivors. Referral partners and staff members learned about heightening our awareness of how others' and our own personal experiences can influence delivery of care; as well as the importance of self-care in maintaining the best versions of ourselves to provide the highest level of service.

Our referral partners inspire us to be empathetic advocates and activists every day — they truly are the superheroes of our community!

Much of the magic and hope we are able to provide is thanks to supporters like you.  Wrapping up and reflecting on 2024, we would like to express our appreciation for you joining us in helping women and children in crisis.

During the holidays, many who feel fortunate enough not to ask for gifts seek ways to supplement others' wish lists.  If you are looking to lift up a family in need (or wondering what to get that person who is impossible to shop for), consider making a dedicated monetary gift to spread the holiday cheer!

LOOKING AHEAD

Our office and facilities will be closed December 23rd — January 5th.  We look forward to returning rested and refreshed to hit the ground running in the new year on January 6th!

A huge thank you to everyone who gave their time and energy to help us during this very busy time of year.  We could not have pulled off our holiday efforts without our incredible volunteers, and we are immensely appreciative!

We had a remarkable showing of elves and workshop assistants including groups from Apple Federal Credit Union, Equinix, Intercoastal Mortgage, Junior League of Northern Virginia, NextMark Credit Union, Stone Bridge High School Girls Basketball, Women in the Building Industry, and of course dedicated WGB regulars.
