We kicked off October with our Referral Partner Open House & Community Resource Fair, inviting our partners to connect with each other and share resources to better assist the clients we serve. This is one of our favorite events as we get to celebrate the dedicated advocates working hard to strengthen our community. Thank you to Inova for sponsoring the event, and to all our exhibitors and attendees (this year nearly 60 agencies were represented!).

This month, we are excited to spotlight Christina Tran! A senior at Dominion High School in Loudoun County, Christina started volunteering with us in June. Even though she is fairly new, she has been one of our most dedicated and active volunteers, logging nearly 170 hours and quickly rising to the Sort Leader role. We hope her experience with us inspires other young future leaders to get involved in the community as well!

"I first partnered with WGB for the sake of expanding my community involvement, but my experience as a volunteer and Sort Leader has provided me with so much more than the hours I’ve racked up. I’ve spent much of my life living in the background, afraid to speak up and take the initiative. But my role as a Leader at WGB allowed me to realize that I always had it in me to push through my limits and challenge the barriers I built upon myself. Assisting fellow dedicated volunteers and clients in need, or simply bringing a smile to someone’s face, is a reward in itself. I am beyond grateful for the opportunities that I have received from working with WGB."
