Van Metre Companies, one of WGB's loyal annual sponsors, held a festival to celebrate their first ever Socktober drive! It was a successful month-long effort with over 5,000 pairs of socks collected to donate to six nonprofits across the DMV area, including WGB. Thank you so much to all who participated!

We held the second of our annual Military Shopping Days on Veterans Day as a salute to National Veterans and Military Families Month. It was a joy to honor those who serve and have served. We hosted over 60 shoppers at this month's event— nearly double the amount of our last Military Shopping Day! Thank you to our volunteers and everyone who spread the word for making this event so successful.
Thanksgiving Food Distribution
This year for Thanksgiving we partnered with Loudoun Hunger Relief to distribute 400 Meal Bags to neighbors in need. The bags contained nonperishable food items and grocery store gift cards to help local families prepare to celebrate Thanksgiving with their loved ones.
Our staff were joined by volunteers from Community Churchand the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office ensuring the drive-through food distribution went smoothly and safely. Our teams embraced this opportunity to help ease the financial stress that comes along with the holidays and allow families to focus on what is important: cherishing one another. A morning of grateful smiles plus words (and friendly honks) of appreciation was a great way to kick off the season of giving.
Thank you so much to everyone who donated, fundraised, and spread the word about our organization on Giving Tuesday! Your selfless generosity will be felt beyond just one day as the women we serve take their first steps toward their new beginnings.
We were also fortunate enough to be featured on Great Day Washington for Giving Tuesday! It was an amazing opportunity to reach new audiences, and WGB co-founder Leslie Strittmatter did an amazing job sharing our work. Check out the full news segment!

Your holiday gift and decór shopping can bring twice the magic this season! Each eligible purchase at a Target store, on target.com, or through the Target mobile app earns shoppers votes to support local nonprofits.
We’re asking our supporters to help us make the most of this incredible opportunity. Every vote counts to help us receive a portion of the available Target funds as we continue advancing our mission.
