We were able to prepare hundreds of kids for success in and out of the classroom with our annual Back to School distribution. Ensuring each child received the necessary supplies and essentials helped build up their confidence and excitement to learn, while easing some of the burden off their families. Additionally, we invited teachers to come pick out school supplies at no cost to help supplement their classrooms. |

Thank you to 7x24 Exchange DC Chapter for sponsoring our school supplies this year, and to each organization and individual who contributed backpacks, shoes, socks, and underwear to our drive! We and the families we serve are grateful for your support. |

Our partners distribute goods and volunteer with us at our facility, in addition to fulfilling their own missions and operations. Learn more about the phenomenal work they do on their websites below. |

August 25th is National Secondhand Wardrobe Day! We support this initiative not only because our clothing assistance programs are largely sustained by generous donations-- it is environmentally conscious and helps reduce excessive wasteful production and disposal. Check out these great infographics on textile waste created by our sustainability intern Grace!

Joanne Cerretani is one of our frequent volunteer drivers, picking up donations from our partner locations throughout Northern Virginia and bringing them to our facility. She also volunteers with us in the warehouse and boutique, and during special seasonal events as well. We are so appreciative of Joanne spending time with us and her dedication to service! |

"I discovered Women Giving back a couple of years ago when trying to find community service that my children could do for their schools. It is an amazing place to volunteer and see how happy it makes so many people. I like to drive because I can do it on my own schedule for the most part and it is quite impressive how much people donate to WGB.
My most memorable pickup would have been in McLean when I went and had to pull up to a loading dock and saw 20 some odd boxes. The best (or worst) part was I went around to open my trunk and the spring head broken so the poor gentleman had to hold up my trunk while I loaded it. Teamwork got it done and everything was delivered successfully back to WGB. I love working with Lisa and Emily because they are so kind, patient, and giving."
