We were able to prepare hundreds of kids for success in and out of the classroom with our annual Back to School distribution. Ensuring each child received the necessary supplies and essentials helped build up their confidence and excitement to learn, while easing some of the burden off their families. Additionally, we invited teachers to come pick out school supplies at no cost to help supplement their classrooms.
Thank you to 7x24 Exchange DC Chapter for sponsoring our school supplies this year, and to each organization and individual who contributed backpacks, shoes, socks, and underwear to our drive! We and the families we serve are grateful for your support.
In August we distributed 47,300 diapers to 400 moms. 65% of those diapers were sizes 5 and 6.
Help us keep our pantry stocked!
We are especially in need of size 6 diapers. Here are ways you can help:
IREM Northern Virginia Chapter 77 hosted a beautiful Summer Social with the theme "A Floral Bouquet" at the end of July. The event raised $12,000 and IREM generously donated the proceeds to WGB this year!

August 17th is National Nonprofit Day! We always celebrate our network of local nonprofit organizations working together to strengthen our community, but we'll take every opportunity to highlight them when we can.
Our partners distribute goods and volunteer with us at our facility, in addition to fulfilling their own missions and operations. Learn more about the phenomenal work they do on their websites below.
Community Engagement & Volunteer partners:
We have an extensive and diverse team of over 280 referral partners, 165 of which are nonprofit organizations, who refer clients to us for supportive services.
Women Giving Back is also part of the Loudoun Human Services Network, a coalition of nonprofit organizations co-chaired by our own CEO Nicole Morris. LHSN connects groups who serve Loudoun County residents, allowing them to collaborate, serve, and advocate for the community. View a list of all the participating nonprofits here.
August 25th is National Secondhand Wardrobe Day! We support this initiative not only because our clothing assistance programs are largely sustained by generous donations-- it is environmentally conscious and helps reduce excessive wasteful production and disposal. Check out these great infographics on textile waste created by our sustainability intern Grace!

We are excited to partner with the Junior League of Northern Virginia - this women-led organization is committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.
Earlier this year we shared that JLNV awarded WGB a grant, which we allocated to directly support the programs and services we offer to women and children in crisis across the Northern Virginia community. JLNV recently released their own announcement of the grants awarded to five local nonprofits supporting our community's women. Read about the League's initiative and the full list of amazing grantees here.

Joanne Cerretani is one of our frequent volunteer drivers, picking up donations from our partner locations throughout Northern Virginia and bringing them to our facility. She also volunteers with us in the warehouse and boutique, and during special seasonal events as well. We are so appreciative of Joanne spending time with us and her dedication to service!
"I discovered Women Giving back a couple of years ago when trying to find community service that my children could do for their schools. It is an amazing place to volunteer and see how happy it makes so many people. I like to drive because I can do it on my own schedule for the most part and it is quite impressive how much people donate to WGB.
My most memorable pickup would have been in McLean when I went and had to pull up to a loading dock and saw 20 some odd boxes. The best (or worst) part was I went around to open my trunk and the spring head broken so the poor gentleman had to hold up my trunk while I loaded it. Teamwork got it done and everything was delivered successfully back to WGB. I love working with Lisa and Emily because they are so kind, patient, and giving."
