A huge thank you to

the Junior League of Northern Virginia and

100WomenStrong of Loudoun County, Virginia

for each selecting us as a grant recipient earlier this month!

We were honored to receive grants of $4,000 and $15,000 from these amazing groups-- think of the impact we can make with their generosity!

In the Press

We are so grateful for The Saturday Evening Post's wonderful feature on us in this month's issue.

 Looking Ahead

Although school might not be out for the summer yet, WGB is already looking toward our back to school efforts. Our goal is to provide each school-aged child with a new pair of shoes as well as new socks and underwear. In addition, we are asking for donations of new, good quality backpacks that can withstand the wear and tear of everyday use throughout the schoolyear. You are welcome to purchase items off our Amazon wishlist below, or drop off items during our scheduled donation times listed on our website from now through July 13th.

If you’re interested in conducting a drive for these items,

please reach out to [email protected].

Volunteer Spotlight

Simone Rao, a high school senior, has spent 30 hours with WGB in May as she completes her Capstone project. As a student in Loudoun schools, Simone had the option to serve as an intern as she finished her classes at Freedom High School and the Academies of Loudoun. She has shadowed several staff members, assisted in the boutique and warehouse, and assisted in planning and setting up events. Prior to working on her Capstone, Simone volunteer 60+ hours with WGB and trained as a Sort Leader. She is also on the youth planning committee for our Kids’ Summer Extravaganza. This fall, Simone will pursue Data Science at the University of California, San Diego. We wish her the best of luck and hope to see her on school breaks!

We can always use the help!

We have plenty of options and shifts to choose from!
