September 2022

September was an exciting (and busy) month! We had a record number of volunteer groups and activities around the warehouse and boutique. We were able to serve over 700 women and children with clothing throughout this month!

Thank You Grace Covenant Church!

Grace Covenant Church has been a longtime supporter of Women Giving Back through organizing many donation drives for diapers and clothing. This month, the team came by to volunteer as a group to help around our warehouse and boutique. Grace Covenant Church surprised WGB with a gift of $10,000 in honor of their "Grace Loves the City" program. Find out more about this amazing effort here. Walmart Sterling Re-Opening Ceremony

This month, during the grand re-opening ceremony at the Sterling Walmart Supercenter, WGB was one of the very lucky, local non-profits who received a grant worth $500. Check out the beautifully renovated store! We thank you Walmart Sterling for being an incredible community partner to us!

George Mason University 9/11 Day of Service!

GMU partnered with WGB for their Day of Service where students and faculty participated in a service project to benefit WGB. We had a booth at the GMU service fair where Lisa, our Volunteer Engagement Specialist, spoke to students about the different ways they can get involved! Thank you GMU!

Diaper Need Awareness Week

September 24th - October 2nd

One in three families struggle to provide enough diapers to keep a baby clean, dry and healthy. Since January 2022, we've seen a 35% increase in diaper need. Paired with the rise in costs for diapers and the formula shortage, we are seeing a drastic need in our community. Diaper needs forces parents to make difficult decisions about where to allocate limited funds. Not having an adequate supply of diapers can lead to increased health issues like diaper rash for babies and increased stress for caregivers.

Hosting a Donation Drive is a great way to serve a worthy cause! Make us part of a giving-back day for your company or energize your group to do a collection in your neighborhoods!
