May 2022 Women Giving Back was the place to BE on Cinco de Mayo! Thank you to all who came out to support as well as our incredible sponsors and volunteers who make it all happen behind the scenes! Our in-person Fiesta was a GREAT success! We had amazing Paella by Carlos, wine tasting and tequila tasting, dancing and so much more! Our silent auction made over $12,000! A BIG thank you to our generous event sponsors, underwriters, and in-kind donors!
May was a busy, fun-filled month! We were able to serve over 700 women and children with clothing throughout this month!
Thank you to our group volunteers for volunteering with WGB in the month of May!
Are you interested in becoming a volunteer at WGB? We have a ton of volunteer shifts available here.
Lucas and Boy Scout Troop #976 helped WGB out in a big way by building an incredible brand-new shoe table completely from scratch! This will greatly help our volunteers with organizing shoes in the warehouse and adds a fun pop of color!
Volunteer Spotlight of the Month If you've seen photos or videos of WGB's boutique, you're familiar with Meg Bobinski's work. She is our expert stylist, always ensuring there are outfit displays in all areas of the store.
Meg came to us in 2020 after retiring from hotel management. Her experience in customer service has translated beautifully to WGB. She treats everyone with kindness and ensures that all clients look and feel their best. When Meg retired, she was looking for an opportunity. She donated some items and kept returning. We have been able to feature the outfits she creates on our #OOTD highlight on Instagram (outfit of the day) as well as most recently in a M&T Bank commercial for International Women's month, which she was very excited to see air!
Meg has a thoughtful and keen eye; she tailors the outfits to holidays, events, interview, etc. and is always pleased to see when one has been scooped up by a client. In the last 16 months, Meg has volunteered over 200 hours. She was an easy choice for the Loudoun Cares’ Outstanding Senior Volunteer nomination.
WGB Receives a Grant from 100WS! This month, Women Giving Back was honored to be a grant awardee of 100WomenStrong of Loudoun County, Virginia. WGB received a $15,000 grant that will help keep our doors open to serve the women and children who need it the most!
100WomenStrong provides strategic support to help address key areas of need in our community. Loudoun County is among the wealthiest counties in America, yet we still have families who are suffering from hunger, homelessness, and lack of basic healthcare. 100WomenStrong is a fund that is maintained and operated by Community Foundation for Loudoun and Northern Fauquier Counties, a 501(c)(3) organization.
A Busy Day at WGB! WOW! May 14th was a busy Saturday at WGB with client stores, volunteers and our partners from Loudoun Hunger and the Health Department! Thank you, Loudoun Hunger Relief for coming out to supply our clients with food assistance! We partnered with Loudoun County Health Department to offer vaccinations to our clients as well! A huge thank you to our friends from O-Six Ryderz Motorcycle Club for helping us out with all the heavy lifting and organizing at the warehouse! We are so appreciative of all the help and assistance!
SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE It's that time of the year again! School's out, and our supply drive is IN! WGB is providing backpacks full of school supplies to the families we serve with school age children in the month of August. We are collecting donation of NEW backpacks, shoes, socks, and underwear. Drop off by July 8th! WE NEED YOUR HELP! Since January 2022, we've seen a 35% increase in diaper need. Paired with the rise in costs for diapers and the formula shortage, we are seeing a drastic need in our community. We could use your help replenishing our pantry's size 5 and 6 diapers and wipes.
