March was a busy month! We served 776 women and children in our boutique and our Community Diaper Pantry served 495 infants!
Janet and Denene from Basic Organization dropped off two carloads of prom items including a full rack of dresses, shoes, make up, purses and jewelry from a prom donation drive they hosted! Thank you!
Kudos to father-son duo, Brian and Alexander, for coming in early morning to help organize our diaper pantry after a delivery from Greater DC Diaper Bank. Thank you!
Check out our rising leader: For her elementary school promotion service project, Eva toured our facility and chose to host a drive for our much-needed purses. Eva collected 141 purses and 41 wallets to replenish our boutique!
This month, we were happy to support FIVE of our Community Distribution Partners who are doing great in their communities! We provided roughly 3,700 pieces of women, children, and infant clothing, to Woodbridge Middle School, Generation Hope, Sterling Middle School, United Community Church, and Mentoring Thru Sports Professional to help the families they serve. Women Giving Back's Community Distribution Partner (CDP) program is offered to our community partners as an opportunity to make a bigger impact on the people that they directly serve. We serve as a “hub” for quality clothing donations for the Greater Washington Metro area and now counting 21 countries worldwide! A huge thank you to our volunteer drivers, Dave Baer and Frank McGrail who helped deliver clothing to our partners! You both ROCK!
MOST volunteers, Kevin, Ricard, Mariah, Alonso and Tom come to WGB weekly to give back together. They assist in everything from organizing and wrapping diapers, assembling snack packs, to hanging and boxing clothing. MOST began volunteering with Women Giving Back in summer of 2021 and have served over 100 hours since then! We are so grateful for our MOST volunteers. They brighten our days with their good humor and help so much. Thank you for all you do, team MOST!
MOST is a one-year program of activities and training designed to facilitate successful transition into the adult community. The program focuses on facilitating outcomes for participants in three domains: self-sufficiency, community, and vocation.
WE NEED YOUR HELP! Did you know that 1 in 3 families struggle to afford enough diapers? There is an increasing need for diapers in our community. We could use your help replenishing our pantry's size 5 and 6 diapers. WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH March was Women's History Month and we wanted to take a moment to thank our founders Leslie Strittmatter, Terri Stagi and Fiona Hughes who pioneered WGB and its mission almost 15 years ago. PROM BOUTIQUE Last call for our Free Prom Boutique. Open to high schoolers (15+). Our boutique has dresses, shoes, and accessories (including clutches, jewelry and new makeup). School ID required.
